Lee S. Harris

Lee S. Harris is a nationally recognized trial lawyer who has assisted individuals and small businesses with complex insurance, injury and property damage problems. He has handled cases involving serious injuries, disability insurance disputes (including ERISA claims), life insurance claims, and homeowner and property damage and insurance claims as well as professional liability insurance matters for his clients in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose. He was a pioneer in handling mass disaster insurance cases in the SF Bay Area in the 1980’s and 90’s and has successfully handled individual and business insurance cases including Failure to Defend cases, Life, Injury and Disability, Property, Liability, Personal Injury and, and Bad Faith claims. He has served as chair of the American Association for Justice, Insurance and Bad Faith Litigation groups. Lee is an officer and director of the Consumer Attorneys of California where he received 3 Presidential Awards of Merit. He received an AV Preeminent 5.0 out of 5 rating from Martindale. He has been elected as a fellow of the American Bar Association and was selected as one of Northern California Super Lawyers. He is a member of the Bar Association of SF, a board member of SFTLA and a member of BALIF. He is an active participant in community affairs having served as President of the City of Alameda Planning Board (presided during turnover of former Alameda Naval Air Station), President of a 10,000 resident master homeowners association (Community of Harbor Bay Isle Homeowners Association Board of Directors), as well as sponsoring soccer and little league teams and participating in numerous other Ad Hoc community and school activities.

Lee received his undergraduate degree with honors from Harvard and his law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1977, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Evidence. He is admitted to practice before the California trial and appellate courts and is a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. He has authored articles and lectured on insurance coverage, jury selection, injury and disability cases, property damage and complex litigation. He has instructed at the Stanford Law School Trial Advocacy Skills Program, Hastings College of Advocacy and the University of San Francisco School of Law Intensive Advocacy Program. Lee is a past president of the USF Law Alumni Association. And, he was recently recognized by his peers for excellence as one of the “Top Attorneys, Northern California, Insurance Coverage.”
